  HOMEOPATHY FOR ALPACAS

Animals and children respond especially well to Homeopathy. These remedies are very safe and if you take the wrong one the worse that could happen is you won't see any response. It would also be very hard to overdose on them. The base is just milk sugar pills and they wouldn't hurt you.  It is not my intent to go deeply into what Homeopathy is and what makes it work. So if you want more information please do a search on sites that specialize in this subject. There are also several good books on the subject with remedies listed. Dr. Robert Pollard, who is one of the leading Camelid vets from California, uses Homeopathy on his animals on a regular basis and for all types of reasons. He highly advocates using this type of remedy on Alpacas and Llamas. He and others have had great success using Homeopathy when none of the traditional medicines would work. Homeopathy is not only useful for camelids, but other animals and people as well, of course. An easy way to use this on animals is to put tablets in about 1cc of water in a syringe (enough to melt the tabs), shake until dissolved and squirt in their mouth. They can be purchased in some pharmacies or health food stores. Also, combination remedies can be used for a particular problem and work well.  So all I am offering here is a general guide on some of the most common remedies and what they could be used for. Herbs also work well on animals, but should be properly researched first and used with caution.

Symptoms are worse for cold or before a storm, but better for warmth, exercise and after sleep. Can use on choke spasms, relieving the sore throat and perhaps helping them to swallow easier (used with Arnica Montana a good idea for choke).
